Conall is a man wrapped up in a lifelong war against a world that simply cannot live and let live. His career in computing technologies is marked by a brilliance nearly ravenous in its aggression to obtain absolute dominance. Acceptable was not a word in his vocabulary and he challenged and uplifted others about him with his zealous pursuit of perfection. For this devotion, the old man carries around the invisible scars that mark him as a survivor of an age of unrest in networking. In a world where the supernatural and bleeding edge technologic trivialize whole swaths of existing and potential technologies at every turn, Conall fought tooth and nail to be one of the pathfinders of tomorrow and not fall into irrelevance. So many of his colleagues, some even more brilliant than he in their own right, were not so lucky and the dead-ends of their research only stoked Conall with more fire.

For the better part of his life, he opted to cooperate with the societal systems of the world, that they might be able to create a better world for all. He kept one hand in the shadow, however, operating now and again to push private security interests and keep a watchful eye on what other did in the darkness. Known under any number of unconnected handles, his persona minoTOR is best known for his work to tear down injustices done in the cybernetic frontier. His passion and righteousness may well have earned him a place as one of the global titans of the Internet with a little more time, but the world saw fit to tear away his tether: his wife Naomi.

Sweethearts who met in his early university days, Naomi brought sollace and direction to Conall's overwhelming personality. Sometimes, the faint weight of that gold band about his ring finger was enough to remind Conall that the world was bigger than whatever windmill he was presently tilting at. When Naomi was diagnosed with breast cancer that wasn't responding to the best medical practices available to their exceptional resources, Conall turned to unconventional means to help his wife. Stories circulated among the Techgnostic Engineering circles of Hajime, a fetid but powerful city where death was said to cling loosely and overlooked even the sickly. It was as worthy as any other therapy they had attempted, and the two began the process of arranging to move to the city.

They became held up in the vetting process to enter the country, however. Conall knew all along he could arrange to fix it for them, reach into the digital world and twist it to his liking to make his papers clear, but he stayed his hand; trusted society and the words of his ailing wife. For his patience, she died suddenly, and weeks before access finally cleared. Conall took the plane with his things once he'd burried his wife back in Ireland. His heart teeming with hate and grief, the old hacker wanders the streets wondering what is left to him. The only thing that keeps him from smashing the world about him to shreds is that faint impression of the ring when he clutches his fist.

Techgnostic Engineering: Conall has spent many decades entrenched in research projects seeking to understand and utilize magical phenomenon for application in computing problem domains. While bereft of magical potential himself, through manipulation of mystical phenomenon's embedding in the natural world, Conall and those like him have developed techniques for altering and repurposing supernatural phenomenon. Provided access to a stable mystical object or supernatural phenomenon, Conall can gradually massage its properties through a kind of technologic alchemy into something that may appear largely unrelated to the original source.

The Labyrinth: Conall's long career has given him access to the associates and resources to have founded a worldwide private network along with the cooperation of like-minded individuals. An evolution of similar digital equivalents, the network allows for tunneling of information without the risk of network surveillance and traffic analysis through a carefully-curated list of regions where seizing control of its architecture would be extremely difficult. The network utilizes a number of advanced and novel computing architectures, not least of which is a full AI managing its security dynamically. The network also allows Conall to stage cyber attacks with minimal traceability back to his person.
