It was a calm evening in the beautiful waters of Ryutaen Reef, a warm water coral reef between the two island of Najina and Mokala, which reside within 'Over Yander', a world where Yokai reside. Within this beautiful coral reef lived may different species of aquatic life, mainly a Pod of Merfolk. The Pod was filled with many Mer's ranging in age, and they all worked together much like a tribe would. And much like a tribe, they had a ranking system that that the young were born into, which was decided b specific marks that they bore on their arms. They had ranks such as Hunters, Warriors, Watchers, Patrol, and Shamans alike. No rank was gender specific, women could be born as Warriors, and men could be born to watch over the young. It was all a fair trade, and everyone watched out for one another, everyone protected the Pod. And today, April 4th, a new set of spawn were just about ready to release. During mating season, much like birds, men would show off and attempt to attract mates seeing as there were no relationship status in this tribe. Once a mate was chosen and the dance complete, the eggs were fathered and placed in the center of the Pod surrounded by Warriors and Watchers. Being a cold blooded species of Mer, they needed a specific amount of heat to survive, this also could determine their sex while in incubation. This was convenient for the Mer so they could decided how many lived, and could manipulate their sex by either giving them more or less warmth. Males got less, females got more.

Sakana was one of the lucky few that were chosen to survive, however, he was a bit of an odd ball. Sakana was chosen to be female, but something happened while in incubation and he didn't get enough warmth in time to have his sex decided accordingly. As a result, these conflicting temperatures also resulted in him looking more feminine than a normal male would look. While it came to a surprise that he came out as male, he was still welcomed into the Pod with opened arms, as a future Hunter. He did very well when it came to start his training and learned fast, as well as being quiet eager. It didn't take him long to pass on his tests to become a fully-fledged Hunter, and he was excited and dove right in. However, his life within the Pod was fairly short lived. At the age of 39, a band of Shark Merfolk decided to move into the reef, they drove away the Pod, mainly by catching them or killing them, anything to get them to leave on their terms. No one got away alive, unless they chose to keep you and sell you, or keep you for their own gain. Sakana was one of very few that were taken in as slaved pretty early on due to being a bit on the weak side. He and a few other women of his Pod were dragged to the human realm by their captors. One was sold to an exotic zoo, and he and two others were sold to a circus. Sakana, while abused, was traded better than his Pod-mates. He was mainly kept around to make with the two women, while the two were worked day in and day out performing. When their current captors found out this species of Mer needed specific requirements to breed, the treatment only got worse. They were no longer being fed, and their workload grew. With all this piled on, Sakana watched the last of his Pod-mates, and possibly the last Merfolk he'd ever see, die as time went on of this abuse.

Realizing he was alone, without his Pod, as well as dealing with ongoing abuse and neglect, was enough to bring the man spiraling into deep depression. His refusal to do work, or even leave what cage they had given him, he was then refused water for days at a time. They were desperate to get him to agree to perform, even going to situations that could easily kill him, and nearly have. Upon realizing that the Mer didn't seem to care as to what happened to him, they refused him water, and on the third day of such treatment, they simply dumped him out in the middle of nowhere. Now only the age of 48, still a young spawn by the aging of his species, he had lost everyone. From the people he loved, to his home, to quite possibly his life at this point. However, fate seemed to have better things in mind for the Mer, or just enjoyed watching him suffer, and the winds changed, bring on a heavy downpour that thundered over the forest he was dumped into that night. While it wasn't the same as salt water, it was just enough to allow him to live, and thrive enough to find an ocean. However, once again, his bad luck got the better of him, and the ocean was just far too cold for him to survive in. And thus, he had to go on to finding warm pools, or any type of warm waters to sustain him enough to survive the hard lands of Japan. He wandered around aimlessly alone for over a hundred years, dealing with, or rather, living with his depression as well as coming to accept he was never to see an ocean warm enough to house him again. After many a year of wandering, he stumbled upon a city called Hajime City. He hadn't explored it very much, mainly because when he came to the Aquarium, he felt more at home than he's felt in years, and chose to hide in the tank with the Sea Turtles, just trying to figure out a way to survive to the next day.

-He is very sluggish on land, and quite unsteady, but is like a rocket in water

-He loves to sing, and has a great voice, but will normally only sing when alone
-He can speak fluent Japanese, but if angry, he'll only speak in his tribal tongue
-He will grab onto someones shirt or sleeve if he wants attention
-He hates shoes, and will never wear them
-Because he is so used to not being fed, he will more often than not forget to eat
-He carries around a very special pearl from his homeland. These special pearls are meant to be given to a mate during mating season.
-He does have the ability to change his tail into human legs to give off a more human look, but nothing else changes on him.
-He is very needy when it comes to attention and affection, and will go to great lengths to get it
-Is absolutely terrified of sharks
-He loves festivals, but if it looks anything like a circus, he will refuse to go

Sakana has a very beautiful voice when it comes to singing, and it has a very calming effect to those who are within a ten meter radius of him. It effects humans and creatures alike, yes, even fish. He uses this mainly when he's out hunting for food, and will more often than not sit in the middle of a school of fish and sing until they school around him, where he will be able to just reach out and grab a few.

Magical Knowledge:
Sakana is a very fast learner and can easily pick up on magical abilities. He has a true knack when it comes to learning new things.

Echo Location:
Because Sakana can't see in the dark, he has the ability to make very high pitched noises to see where he is going, this is mainly used in underwater caves. The noises mainly sound like cute chittering.

Hydro-manipulation:
While Sakana can't magically make water shoot from his hands, or grab water from thin air, he can use what's called Hydrokinesis, and can draw water from any source, such as a cup of water, a lake, or the ocean and manipulate it's form for his own use.

Warded Against: Yokai are mainly spiritual creatures and thus they are susceptible to Holy or Purifying magics, even those considered to be “Holy” or “Pure” in affinity. Thus, all Yokai take +1 Moderate damage from Holy or Purifying damage.

Water Reliant:
Being a Mer, Sakana needs water to survive, and must seek it out at least every two days.

Being warm blooded, Sakana needs heat to survive, and will take one minor for every two posts he's exposed to coldness.

Ice Attacks:
Sakana's body has absolutely no resilience against ice based attacks, and will take one moderate plus a minor for being exposed to cold.
