The Yūekina Report: April 2017 Edition

Safety Improved: Martial Law Comes to an End
As of April 6, 2017 Martial Law is no more! Camille Ortega, HCPD Commissioner, released this statement.
“Martial Law has been lifted, due to a serious downturn in local crime. As such, curfew will be disbanded, and citizens are allowed out beyond their regular hours without escort or being accosted by the HCPD. Thank you for doing your part in making our city a better place.”

Month of April

April Weather
April Weather report given by Yuekina Writer, Shiro Kuro.
Moving into the next month of spring, as usual, we expected out chilled nights and calm crisp air. However, as of April first, Hajime City experienced and odd phenomenon, Sunlight! That’s right, folks. We actually have Sun! Though… It isn’t like how it should be, at all.. The Sun stayed rising for the course of five days, from the first to the fifth. Now, it’s risen high and doesn't seem to be moving. We at the Yuekina have been wondering. What the heck is going on? Are we in some sort of time paradox? What IS the “Curse” of Hajime City? Nonetheless! At least on these sunny days, we’re experiencing a bit more warmth! Be sure to check the fashion column for some tips on how to deal with the bright lights! Stay cozy, Hajime!

April Fashion

April Fashion report given by Yuekina Writer, Idol Sugar.
Happy April, Hajimites! Now that the sun is out and about it's time to bust out those lacey shorts! Ladies, you can't go wrong with gladiator sandals and accessorize with a cute floral print purse! Can't decide on a color? Pastels are the way to go this month. Stick with light pinks and cream colors and you can't go wrong! Top it all off with an off shoulder blouse~ Are you looking for a onesie outfit? You just gotta go with a comfy romper. Pearl earrings and long necklaces are super in so be sure you don't leave the house without these! We can't forget our men now! Guys, it's time to show a little skin too~ But not too much! It's totes ok to wear muted colored shorts, just right above the knee. Wear some boat shoes to match and accessorize with a nice wrist watch! Jeans are still a thing too! Gotta wear a cotton v-neck shirt and a casual blazer when you're out and about to be stylin. Stick to light shades of blue and tans, if you know what's hot. Not into blazers? That's cool too. Long coats and shirts are super hype right now! That's all for this month, be sure to protect your skin from the sun!

Report given by Yuekina Writer, Shiro Kuro. Unfortunately the Yuekina were not able to capture the events on film.

Mar. 20th: Someone was brought back to life!
According to a number of individuals which were there for this event, there had been an individual buried under the old Sacred Sakura Tree in the forest of Hajime. The Sacred Tree, cared for by the Kinship of Harmony, and stands as a beacon of light for every being in Hajime City. For a body to be buried under the tree is a sign of high importance, certainly enough to be resurrected! A woman with purple hair, and tanned skin came over and spoke of a time of revitalization, “A New Beginning” is what we can quote was said. As she spoke, she lead the head of the Kinship of Harmony and others who wished to join, in order to see her resurrect, not one, but two individuals with just the tugging of a piece of cloth! One of the beings was male, the other was female. However, the female was carried away and vanished with the purple haired woman. Talk about a magic show! Whoever this purple haired woman has been seen talking to the head of the Kinship before. Don’t worry, Hajime. We’ll keep you updated!

Mar. 21st: Wishes Do Come True!
After the previous day’s magic show, the Kinship’s festival for spring seemed to be all the more exciting on the day of the equinox! A woman with white hair and fox-like features was said to be granting wishes for individuals. As individuals lined up to get their wishes granted, this individual proved she was not a hoax! There wasn’t a single report of a failed granted wish! On top of that, none of the wishes ended up badly! I guess not all the Yokai are too bad. There are some nice ones! We haven’t gotten a name yet, but keep tuned in and we’ll get the wish-granting-fox’s name out to you all in Hajime as soon as we can!

Mar. 22nd: When the Dead Walk!
Two days after his revival, the male who was brought back by the purple haired woman came about once more. He seemed to be staying close to others like him, Yokai. Multiple people which seemed to know him, he had no clue of and there was quite the bit of confusion. Tension was tight in the air, but it seems that with resurrection came absolute amnesia! I think I’d pay that price to live again too! We have no further reports on what happened to the man but we do know that the Festival by the Kinship of Harmony, once again, Blew Us Away! Well done with setting that all up, guys!

Mar. 24 Free Hospital Exams
Hospital was busy as ever for free exams. It seems like the hospital is more open into seeing humanoid non-human patients but it seems like they still aren't able to see robotic patients. Many were advised to have check ups done with Aggrotech. Seems like things are changing and the staff there is moving towards being able to see more non-human citizens.

The Yūekina Special Report: March Overview 2017

Death Total Takes a Dive
While many of our citizens disliked Martial Law, it seems as though it helped to improve the safety our streets. HCPD has released that death totals and missing persons for the month of March have declined drastically.

Bustling Businesses: New and Old
With Spring coming into full bloom, businesses around the city have been lively and bustling with business. Many businesses have open positions for new employees as well. We’ve had the chance to interview two businesses in the city, one new and one familiar.

Interview Conducted by Yuekina Intern, Takako Amatori.

Bake Town Funk Under New Management!
Recently, the ownership of our local bakery switched hands this month, into the palms of one Kirin Amatori! Miss Kirin has been living in your city for about two months, renting one of our skyrise apartments. She’s a kind hearted individual that likes to look out for those around her, mainly those less fortunate, and feels at home cooking & baking.
So, what does that mean for our bustling city? Well, I went over there myself to find out and conduct a short interview and taste test of the shop’s new Specialty.

Bake Town Funk Interview with Kirin Amatori:

I have to say, the atmosphere of Bake Town Funk is a lovely one. The moment you walk in, it’s sweet but neutral, allowing anyone to feel welcome. It’s clean, and smells wonderfully of freshly baked goods. Treats line the trays in various colors, and wholesome breads sit together in quaint wooden boxes. It’s quiet, with each table adorned with fresh flowers (perhaps from our own Petalphile).
The service, unbiased, was pleasant and attentive. You can really see how much Miss Kirin wants to be there, it really gives her a glow! Then there is the matter of it’s location. I am personally pleased to have the bakery so close to my place of work, but even better, right across the bakery is the Cat Cafe! The spot also has a Gazebo, for small events, and is right next to the Salon and some shops. Perfect placement for a quick pick me up on your ‘Treat Yo Self’ days!
But, I’m sure what you’re really interested in is the goods. The baked goods.

I can say, as critical as I am in general, but most of all to Cheesecake, Bake Town Funk does not disappoint! As you can see by the interview, Miss Kirin selected for me a plain cheesecake, and an accompanying coffee consisting of two sugars, two creams, and added caramel. Don’t fret, if that sounds too sweet! This was all part of her design.

The cake itself is crafted into a delight of texture and flavor. It didn’t need anything to coat it, no chocolate or strawberry syrup, that would have been an insult to its simple complexity (though you do have the option to have either). The cake put me in mind of an earlier time, of being a kid again, and in a world like this one, rife as it is with struggle, can’t we all use a little food break?
The coffee, sweet on it’s own, paired with the slight bite of the cheesecake. The blend is unknown to me, but each caramel sip over a cake coated tongue was pure bliss. Cool cake, hot coffee. Perfection.

In my opinion, Bake Town Funk is headed in the right direction, and I urge you to give it a try!

A Fun Treat with Studio Honey!
Those who venture into Hajime City’s Red Light District are pleased to find some gems that attract tourists to our city for a reason. A new business to the city is Studio Honey. Upon walking into the studio, I was greeted by the owner, and producer for Horney Hornet Productions, Spheka Une Li. Incredibly professional, yet comfortable to speak with, Spheka Li was a delight to interview. She hopes to bring people from all sorts of backgrounds, to body types, to sexualities together for some dirty fun, and perhaps a confidence booster!
