Nova was born in Reine, Norway, out of wedlock, to a museum curator and an opera singer, though her upbringing could also be accredited to the flocks of flamboyant artists and eccentric thespians who kept the company of her father and mother.  Beginning during her early childhood, she often was passed between two households, due to her parents deciding against being in a relationship with one another, and would make the 20 hour bus (and ferry) trip between Reine and Oslo every other weekend.
Dreaming of one day being able to have her own exhibit in her father's museum, Nova began to carry a camera with her everywhere, snapping photos of everything she could. Most of her photographs were of the scenery or people on the bus/ferry that caught her fancy, but she soon longed for the chance to snap photographs of places beyond that same stretch of 1,300 kilometers. Upon finishing her basic education, having been home-schooled by less-than-qualified individuals on everything from classical music and stage makeup to designing gallery floor-plans (but not so much on the social norms of places outside of the art world), she packed her most treasured belongings in a backpack and left Norway to travel the world.  
Slowly working her way through each continent, Nova eventually landed in Hajime City and rented a small apartment in a nearby suburb to act as her base of operations. Soon after settling in, her cousin Oriana, with whom she has a rocky relationship, took up residence on her couch. She now spends much of her time skulking around Hajime, capturing its sights with her camera. She supports herself on her journey by photographing events and occasionally busking as a fortune teller.

Despite all of the trouble she's gotten into, Nova has only ever taken part in choreographed fights. She has no experience in situations where punches aren't being pulled and the blood isn't ribbon, so would not know how to properly defend herself for real or how to land a decent strike.
