Aria Caruso

SL Username: littleumeko Resident
SL Display Name: Sarah Enyo
Character Name: Aria Caruso
Age: 27
Race: Human
Origin: Mid-West United States.
Occupation: Baker
Affiliation: N/A

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Personality:

Caring: One to wear her heart on her sleeve, she can't sit idly by if there's something she can do to brighten up someone's day or to lend a helping hand. Aria never had it easy and if she could lighten the burden for others the way she wished some could have done for her in the past, she will do it.

Shy: Normally not much of a talker or one to seek out social interaction, she tends to keep quietly to herself until she gets the courage to talk to someone. Most don't notice her shy nature unless perceptive, mistaking it for aloofness or an unwillingness to want to speak to new people. Once she has gotten to know someone, she will open up more and become much more talkative and speak less formally.

Motherly/Sisterly: Many a time Aria has been compared to being like a mom or big sister to those she's close to. Always worrying, making sure her friends are taking care of themselves if they are the forgetful sort. She's the kind of person people come seek out to unwind, de-stress, relax, and talk things out with her. Now and then Aria will also dole out advice but only when it's something truly important or when she thinks such things would be welcomed from her. True to her Italian heritage, if someone comes to visit her at her home, she will offer food and drink. If they're not hungry? Well, they will be taking something home then for later!

Self Motivating: Aria didn't have an easy life growing up and so finds it difficult to understand some of the problems others who are well off have. As an example, someone having a depressing day for no particular reason. She has severe depression but have found ways of coping with it and not letting it effect others around her if she can help it. If Aria sees someone giving up on the day because of them feeling depression without a outward source, she will still try to cheer them up but if they don't seem to want to bring themselves out of it, she won't waste her time, figuring they will come out of it in their own time.

Cheerful: No matter how bad or good she feels upon waking up, Aria always tries to put her best foot forward. If she feels down or ill that morning, she'll take even more care in her appearance. A wise person once told her that dressing well on the days you feel your worst will always make you feel better. Mostly from compliments given from the added care to her outfit for the day. Aria will always do her best to keep her troubles to herself, choosing to not burden others with her own problems and instead take care of them herself with a smile on her features.

Positive Traits/Strengths:

  • A go-getter sort of gal.
  • Doesn't wait around for others to come help solve her problems.
  • Well prepared and usually has what is needed on hand thanks to her purse and pockets.
  • Always seems to be upbeat and cheerful with a smile curving her lips.

Negative Traits/Weaknesses:

  • Doesn't know how to ask others for help on things of importance.
  • Isn't used to receiving anything from others despite being a giving person herself.
  • Is nearsighted and is almost legally blind at night if she doesn't have her glasses on.
  • Hard to read because of her normally cheerful demeanor, making it tricky for even her friends to know if something is wrong unless perceptive enough to catch on.

Likes:

  • Chai latte tea
  • Pastel colors
  • Soft and fluffy things
  • Vintage aesthetic

Dislikes:

  • Bitter things
  • Most alcohol
  • Uncalled for rudeness
  • Anything sexual being treated as casual in regards to her person.

Hobbies:

  • Video games
  • Sketching/drawing
  • Reading books
  • Improving recipes

Fun Facts/Quirks:

  • Hums/sings to herself when alone
  • Talks in circles when overly excited or anxious about something
  • Has a tendency to info dump aka talking too much all at once.
  • Loves corny jokes and pick-up lines

Sexual Orientation: Bisexual - Male Preference

Personal Inventory:

  • Mini first aid kit
  • Mini sewing kit
  • Smart phone in life proof case
  • Assorted candies, both normal and sugar free varieties

Specialized Equipment:

  • ----
  • ----
  • ----
  • ----

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Combat Abilities: Only knows what she picked up from domestic fights and street fights growing up and only has the muscle strength earned from baking and walking everywhere.

Combat weaknesses: No special abilities and not a trained fighter. Not having any combat training whatsoever

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Character Backstory:

Aria didn't exactly come from the best of homes but then again, the same could be said about many other humans across the globe. She was one of four daughters had by her mother and had been a sickly child ever since she was an infant. That didn't make things easier on her already financially strained family. At the time she was born, her father had been laid off work and her mother had been working two jobs even before then, taking on even more hours and trusting the father to take care of things at home. It didn't quite work out that way. He was lazy, a slob of a man, who spent most of his time in front of the television. It was up to the oldest sister to keep an eye on the younger kids when she could.

It wasn't long before Aria's mother finally had it and left her father, taking the girls with her and moving in with another man whom she married a few days after leaving her first husband. The man had four boys from the first marriage of his own and it had been their mother who left them abandoned at church one Sunday afternoon, driving off and never looking back. Needless to say that the boys didn't much like the thought of another woman being pushed on them. They lashed out and made things difficult for Aria's mother. Less time was spent caring for the daughters just so the mother could keep the sons in line. Despite all the chaos and now having eight children in the house, the mother still worked her jobs along with her new husband working his own down at the plant on an assembly line.

After a year of living together, things began to settle a little bit and it was then that Aria's mother had become pregnant and had the fourth daughter, the youngest and the only child between her mother and the new husband. That was when things went from okay to nightmarish. Now that he had a daughter of his own, something he had wanted for a long time and his first wife couldn't give him, he no longer needed the substitutes of the three step daughters. Those were his wife's kids from other men. Not like the newborn baby girl. He became crueler towards them and especially to Aria who was only three years old and not understanding why she was no longer treated nicely by the only father figure she was able to remember.

It was around this time where things became much, much worse. The step father came home drunk or high only to start fights with Aria's mother over trivial things like him not being able to find something and claiming one of her daughters stole it only to find it the next morning right where he had left it. After a while the shouting matches got physical and often times Aria would find her mother sobbing in the corner, bruised up from being hit. She was too young to know that the step dad was drunk or high from drugs. All she knew was that the once kind father was now cruel, mean, and hurt her mother.

Over the years, it didn't get any better and the youngest daughter even grew to resent her father. Even the once wild boys were now mellowed out from age and banning together from the abuse of the man. Even they could see how he was harming the girls of the family but whenever the older boys tried to stand up against their father, they were beaten down as well. Over time, as soon as the children became eighteen or were able to leave sooner, they did just that. Countless times they had all begged Aria's mother to leave the man but she refused, saying he would get better or that she wouldn't be able to financially. Sometimes she would even say that the kids didn't deserve to grow up without a father.

Aria's mother was a lost cause and they all knew it. No matter how many scars marked their bodies, how dull and haunted the look in their eyes when told it was time to go home, Aria's mother stayed with the man. Near the end of her time at home, it was Aria who cared for her younger sister and kept an eye on her youngest older brother. She cooked for them and checked in on them, had homework sessions in the kitchen so the three of them could help one another. When the younger sister needed something school related, it was Aria who paid for it with her babysitting money so the younger wouldn't have to miss out on field trips and the like as Aria had.

When she reached nineteen and was kicked out by the step father, she had enough saved up to travel far enough away to stay with an internet friend of hers. He was pretty nice to her but his family, not so much. His mother and older sister were just as manipulative and abusive as Aria's step father had been. After staying there for three years, both she and her friend moved out and went their separate ways. He to another friend of his and she to her biological father's family.

Things were just as bad there with her step mother but she made due, the son of her father and step mother adoring Aria enough to make the mother tolerate Aria's presence. She helped out around the house and applied for all the jobs within walking distance until she was hired by this small mom and pop run bakery. It was there that she truly found her passion for baking, having loved cooking for her younger sister just to see the younger girl brighten up and for a moment, forget their lot in life.

That realization was what helped shape Aria's outlook on life along with her career choice. She would always have a smile on her face and a cheery attitude around others to help ease their own worries. Aria would bake and watch as the customers' once grim, stern, or sad expressions transform into smiles or at least relaxed expressions from eating what she and her co workers had made for them. This is what she wanted, to bring more joy into the world, something more positive than what had been given her. Once she had finally saved up enough and learned all she could from the shop, she packed up and moved out of her father's home and headed for Hajime City where no one knew her and she could start her new life.

First thing's first! It was time to find a place to call home and a job where she could continue doing what she loved most, baking and bringing a little more joy to her customers' lives.
